What Do Sharks, Skulls, Tattoos, Scuba Diving, and Branding Have in Common?

Many of you have heard that word tossed around, “Brand” or “Branding”—but what truly is a brand? Your Brand is a combination of who you are, how you choose to present yourself to the world, and how your audience perceives you. An effective brand gives you a major edge in increasingly competitive markets. Another way to think about it: your brand is your promise to your customer. It tells them what they can expect from your products or services; but above all else, it differentiates you from your competitors.

Good branding speaks for itself, so when customers visit your website or see your digital or print ads, they quickly get the gists of who you are and what product or service you provide.

Recently we’ve collaborated with an old client of ours, Sharkie’s Swim and Scuba Academy, to create a new Retractable Banner for a special event they were attending. Typically, their branding and marketing materials are family-friendly and are geared towards children and parents. See some of previous projects we’ve produced for them—they are a good example of great branding.

So when Sharkie’s approached us this time and explained that they needed this banner for a tattoo convention, we new this would be a perfect opportunity to expand on their branding. Conventions are a great way to market, but in order to make a lasting impression on the attendees you have to speak their language and use visuals that speak to them. With this in mind, our talented in-house graphic design team set out to reinterpret their brand for a more mature audience. Here’s the finished product:
